IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alan Keith
Ballard
August 6, 1955 – January 12, 2026
Alan Keith Ballard was born on August 6, 1955, to Elmer and Betty Armstrong Ballard. He spent his early childhood in Midwest City, Oklahoma, before moving with his family to several locations, including Ardmore, Oklahoma, due to his father's construction business. In the late 1960s, the Ballard family settled in Meeker, Oklahoma, where they laid down permanent roots.
Alan attended Meeker Middle School and Meeker High School, where he was very active and excelled in track and field. He proudly lettered in track during the 1967–1968 seasons. From a young age, Alan worked alongside his father, who instilled in him strong values, many life lessons, and a work ethic that remained with him throughout his life.
In 1973, Alan began his own family and welcomed his first daughter, Shelly, in 1973, followed by his second daughter, Bridget, in 1975. He was a proud and devoted father who deeply cherished his family and friendships.
Alan was a talented and creative man who loved to paint, play the guitar, and spend time outdoors. He proudly served his community as a member of the 160th Artillery National Guard and later as Chief of Police in Hanna, Oklahoma.
In his later years, Alan found great joy in spending time with his grandchildren—taking them on nature walks, playing silly games, and helping with landscaping projects at his daughters' homes. Although his later years presented many challenges, Alan faced each one with grace, courage, and dignity, ultimately finding peace in his journey with a terminal illness. He was a kind-hearted man, always willing to lend a hand to those around him, and he built special bonds with his neighbors, who became more like family than friends.
Alan was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Ballard; his mother, Betty Ballard; his daughter, Shelly Ballard Wilhite; and his siblings, Lauretta Rex, Bill Ballard, Karen Small, and Bob Ballard.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Bridget Coleman, and her husband, Chad; his grandchildren, Christopher Wilhite Jr. and wife Chelsea, Cylie Holik and husband Adam, Savannah Bagwell and husband Levi, Cale Coleman and wife Emily, and Camryn Laffoon and husband Austin. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Rhett and Rowan Holik, Colson Coleman, Alba, Archer, and Ace Bagwell, and Race and Adalynn Wilhite.
Alan is also lovingly remembered by his special niece, Candy Buoy, and her husband, Mark, nephew David "Roho" Rex and wife Tina along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He shared a close bond with his family and friends at Greenridge Apartments, including Karla, Greg, Kathy, who will greatly miss his presence.
The world feels a little quieter today, and I already miss your "good morning" texts, but we take comfort in knowing you have been reunited with your Savior.
