Some stars shine for only a little while, yet their light remains forever.
Alex Alton Hibbert came bringing love and a bit of sunshine with him into the lives of his parents Kerry Hibbert (Davis) and Shane Hibbert on March 17, 2003 at 1:11 pm at OU Medical Center.
Alex grew up surrounded by family and always in the middle of everything going on. He was drawn like a magnet to people and they were in turn drawn to the joy of life that seemed to shine around him. He was what some would call a wild child for he had no fear. He was too busy taking everything in and living life to the fullest.
Yet there was another side to him that knew all about being responsible. This side worked hard at everything he did whether it was having fun or being determined to finish a task on time complete and above that of what was expected of him.
He was especially known for going above and beyond when it came to caring and protecting his family. He gave his all and most of all his love and friendship to every person he met during his 23 years on earth.
He loved the little things in life and his greatest enjoyment was being surrounded by his nephews, nieces and cousins. They looked up to him and turned to him for guidance so much so that his cousins affectionately called him Uncle Alex as they tried to follow in his footsteps and do everything he did. This brought him more joy and pride than they ever realized. And he gave them a lifetime of memories of an uncle that always had time for them.
If there was a gathering of family or friends, it wasn’t hard to find him. Just follow the giggles and shrieks of the children. Chances were that he would be in the middle of not just each of them, but joining in all their fun, games and shenanigans.
While the Grinch may have stolen Christmas, Lilly’s memory of her Uncle Alex dressing up to steal her presents at first upset her. Yet having him do it again when she asked is most certainly the greatest gift he could have ever given her, a gift from the heart snd a cherished memory of her uncle to someday share with her own children.
Just as much as he loved to make his nephews and nieces smile, he also loved to help them. He was patient as he taught both his younger brother Shane and nephew J-Dawg the importance of properly handling firearms and taught them as he had been taught. This also a memory that they will hold onto tightly like so many others of times spent with a beloved uncle.
Alex was a hard worker and determined to give his best in all that he did. He had overcome many obstacles and through it all never lost his love of life. That zest for making everyday special carried over into the lives of his coworkers at George Fisher Central Plastics in Shawnee where they also came to see the light shining from Alex that made him one in a million with a gift for helping others. That determination helped him over the past three years attain the position and title of lead at work. Yet, his co workers weren’t just faces he saw at work. They became more than friends he spent the workday with, he gladly opened his heart to call each and every one of them his family.
Alex was a beautiful light that shone in the lives and hearts of his friends and family and for all the world to see. He was like a comet in that his life was lived faster than we would have liked, but the memories will never fade into the darkness.

Alex lived life to the fullest with no regrets. His motto was go big or go home with him always choosing to go big.
In true Alex form, even taking his last breath meant doing so in a big way. He didn’t just go home instead he donated his organs to help others. This is not goodbye it is until we meet again.
