Barbara Ann (Thompson) Anson peacefully passed away on March 17th, 2026. The family respected her wish to pass away at home on the farm. On September 2, 1945 in Fairfax, Ok. Mildred L.(Hightower) Thompson and Joe J. Thompson had a baby girl they named BARBARA ANN THOMPSON. On her birthday she would always tell people that she was born on VJ (Victory over Japan) Day, September 2, 1945. Barbara grew up in the military. Her dad CMSGT Thompson was stationed at Vance Air Force Base, Enid, Oklahoma where Barbara started school, and her little sister was born. She always said she got to see Elvis board the plane when he was in the Army. From Enid, the family was stationed in Weisboten Germany for three years. After Germany, they returned to the US and were stationed at Big Spring, Texas. Barbara finished school and graduated High School at Goliad High School, then went on to attend Howard County Junior College. While at HCJC she ran a radio station. Vietnam sprung up and once again the family was transferred. This time they went to Taiwan. Barbara stayed behind to continue her education at Oklahoma State University. She moved to Fairfax, Ok to live with her Aunt Janie and Uncle Albert Phillippe. While living with her Aunt and Uncle while attending college at Oklahoma State University she obtained a Bachelor Degree in Advertising. While living in Fairfax and going to college at OSU she met the love of her life Travis E. Anson. They married on August 20, 1966. They had 2 beautiful daughters Melissa and Michelle in June 1970. Barbara loved spending time with her family and helping on the farm and working cattle. She was always a part of the girls activities when they were in 4-H, FFA, and sports. She was a cheerleading coach and made sure the girls all made the games. She was active in PEO local and state level, where she served on the State PEO board as president. Barbara also volunteered her time with Oklahoma Special Olympics for over 40 yrs, on the games committee. Over the years she had adopted another daughter Robyn (Woolman) Ruest. She loved going to watch her grandchildren compete in sports and was involved with their activities of 4-H, FFA, and, when they competed with their horses. Barbara always had a big heart and loved people.
