It is impossible to explain the depth and breadth of a man's life in an obituary.  The date of his birth in this case, December 15th, 1940, is important for statistical purposes. His last day, January 19th, 2025, will always be painful for those who loved him.

For this man – a good man – the years in between were marked by strength and service.

His strength was shown early. He was 2-weeks old when he fought a grueling case of double-pneumonia and survived. As a young boy, his foot was severely injured by a piece of farming equipment. He recovered, but carried those physical and emotional scars until his final day.

He was the 15th child born to Peter and Anna Mohr. Three others would follow Bart's arrival. One of 18 kids, he was blessed with abundance: an abundance of love, work, mischief and quarrels.

As a young man, he was educated out-of-state at St. Gregory's; then went to college and earned his degree in education, with a minor in business.

His life truly began when he met Mary Lou. She was blessed with beauty and patience. Patience is a job requirement for anyone who falls in love with a Mohr. (Universally known for their quick wit, but stubborn disposition.)

Over the course of their 56-year marriage, they built a life rooted in their Catholic faith. They poured everything they had into their 5 children: Natalie, Matt, Bricen, Michelle and Audrey.

To provide for their large family, there was a 7-year-stretch when Bart worked two full-time jobs. His day began at 6 a.m., then he would return home just before 1 am the next morning. He'd do anything for his family, but that period nearly killed him from exhaustion.

In recent years he treasured his days with Mary Lou, especially their peaceful time on the back patio. There, they reflected on their beautiful life together and the family tree they had created: five children, seventeen grandchildren and breathtaking memories. He loved us beyond measure.
