Obituary

Bobby Everett Walker, a devoted family man, proud Marine, and respected member of the community, entered into rest on August 16, 2024, at the age of 92.

He was born on April 7, 1932, in Duke, Oklahoma to William L. Walker and Tru Mazine Walker, who preceded him in death. He was one of several siblings, including Leonard (Rod) Walker and Josephine Hamilton, and Neva June Winstead who survive him, as well as Stanley Walker, Tommy Walker, Elbert (Shot) Walker, and Rhuebin Walker, who have passed on before him and his sister Wilene Carmen also predeceased him. Additionally, Bobby had four siblings who passed in childhood.Bobby was the beloved husband of Mary C. Walker, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage until her passing. Together, they raised three children: William (Bill) Walker, married to Linda Walker; Catherine West, married to Fritz West; and Tim Walker, who preceded him in death, married to Pam Walker.He was a proud grandfather to 9 grandchildren, a great-grandfather to 16, and a great-great-grandfather to 7, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

A dedicated Marine, Bobby served his country for 20 years, participating in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. His service was recognized with numerous medals, including the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, and the Vietnam Armed Forces Meritorious Unit Citation of the Gallantry Cross with Palm Frame. He was immensely proud of his military service and continued to honor his fellow veterans throughout his life. In his personal time, Bobby was an avid fisherman, a tinkerer who spent many hours in his garage, he enjoyed relaxing by watching TV and a passionate football fan with his brother Rube who loved cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed playing poker and cribbage, going on road trips with his son Bill, and attending auctions with his late son Tim. He loved reminiscing with his daughter Cathy. Bobby was known for his generosity and kindness, always willing to lend a hand to those in need, even giving the shirt off his back.

Bobby leaves behind a loving family who will miss his wisdom, humor, and the warmth he brought into their lives. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
