Obituary

Bonita Marie McRee, a lifelong pillar of the Harrah community, passed away peacefully at her home on May 11, 2026, at the age of 82.

Born on April 4, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Bonita was the "precious little girl" of the Maples family. Her father’s devotion was evident from her very first days when he arranged for her to be driven home from the hospital in an ambulance. Growing up in Harrah, she was a familiar face at the family business, Maples Sundry, where she worked alongside her father before graduating from Harrah High School in 1961.

In 1972, Bonita married the love of her life, Bill McRee. Together, they were a fixture of local business, operating both McRee Clothing Store and the Harrah Tag Office. Bonita later brought her dedication and work ethic to the insurance industry, ultimately retiring from Globe Life Insurance in 2013.

While she was a dedicated professional, her heart belonged to her family. She was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s biggest fan, rarely missing a game or school function. On Saturday afternoons, she could be found cheering on Oklahoma State Cowboys. She loved gardening, watching birds and tending to her flowers.

Survivors include: Her devoted husband of 54 years, Bill McRee, of the home; her children, Billy McRee, Jr. of Oklahoma City, Thadd McRee of Oklahoma City, Deann Keith and husband Tommy of Dardanelle, AR, Debbie Brandon of Harrah, and Joey McRee and wife Shelle of Harrah; and her sister, Judy Lewis and husband Jim. of Meeker. Bonita left behind her grandchildren: Shavonne McRee, Johnathon Johnson, Kristi Keith, Stetson Smith,Cheynne Brandon, TJ McRee, Gary Brandon, and Whitney Barnes-Morales, 20 great-grandchildren and many beloved family members.

Preceded in death by: Her son, Jimmy Park; her parents, Jess C. Maples and Della M. (Bottger) Maples; and her siblings, Bill Maples and Bert Barndt.
