IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carolyn Maxine
(Bowen) Woody
April 9, 1945 – November 20, 2023
Carolyn (Bowen) Woody, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother died peacefully
surrounded by family on November 20, 2023 at the age of 78.
Carolyn was born in Meeker, OK to Fannie and Jesse Bowen. She grew up with 10 siblings on
a farm and learned the value of hard work and the importance of faith and family. She
attended White Rock and Meeker Public Schools and studied at Seminole Junior College. She
devoted her life to her family and enjoyed helping others. She enjoyed volunteering at church
with the youth group and Girls In Action. After retiring from Tinker Air Force Base, she enjoyed
camping in Colorado and spending time doing crafts, bargain hunting, and researching
genealogy. She was talented in quilting, crocheting, sewing, candle making, cooking, cake
decorating, and loved a good game of dominos.
She was most proud of the family she built with her high school sweetheart, Jerry Woody. They
celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. They have five children, ten grandchildren
and seven great grandchildren.
Carol loved the Lord, her husband and all her babies. She will always be remembered as being
gentle, kind, creative, witty, nurturing, patient, compassionate, loving, sweet, genuine, honest,
and dedicated to any task she started. This is just a glimpse of the amazing women we call
Mom.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Michele Woody, parents Jesse and Fannie (Wood)
Bowen, her sisters Gladys Leveridge, Rosie Boatner, Ann Miller, Ethel Pinkston, Sue Bowen
and brothers Clyde Bowen and James "Shorty" Bowen. Carol is survived by her husband Jerry
Woody, sons Tony Woody, Jamie Woody, and Tim Woody, daughter Kimberly Felten, ten
grandchildren, seven great grand children, sisters Helen Pinkston and Kat Gomez, and brother
Larry Bowen.
Her life is a living example of Ephesians 4:32 - And be kind and compassionate to one
another, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.
