IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles Wayne
Canada
August 28, 1954 – April 15, 2022
Charles Wayne Canada, 67, of Wellston, OK, passed away on April 15, 2022, after a three year battle with cancer.
Charles was born on August 28, 1954, to Wayne and Mary Canada of Harrah, OK. During his school years, Charles was a state-championship level wrestler. He also played fullback for the football team.
After graduating from Harrah High School in 1972, he worked several jobs until he found the perfect fit: Power Equipment and Engineering. While working at PE & E, Charles worked his way up from sweeping floors to becoming the General Manager at 23 years old. He held this position until he retired in 2019. During Charles' time at Power Equipment & Engineering, he helped the company transition from carbon copy paper to the digital age, often writing code and developing websites to accomplish the task. His leadership enabled the company to become a thriving small business with multiple locations.
Over the course of his life, Charles was a loving father to his children and stepchildren. In 2003, Charles married the love of his life, Sandy. Over nearly twenty years, they built a wonderful home and life together.
Charles enjoyed fishing, working on cars, and building any items his daughters could dream up…including revolving bookshelves. A major point of pride for Charles was keeping his Toyota Tundra operational for nearly 500,000 miles. He loved learning anything new, from researching the latest engineering tools to mastering snow skiing at 60 years old. Most of all, he loved his family well.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Canada. He is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Canada; wife Sandy; children Cambra (Scott) Strawn, Robert (Kevin) Canada, Jessi (David) Neumann, Josie Hamby, and Lyric Canada; grandchildren Will and Sam Strawn and Talen Neumann; brothers Dan Canada, Walter Canada, and John (Lou) Canada.
Services will be held at Trinity Baptist Church in Wellston, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Charles' name to Tenaciously Teal, an organization that supports Oklahoma families during their battle with cancer. https://www.tteal.org/give/donate/
