Obituary

Donald Gene Blay, known to many as "Don," was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was born on August 15th, 1941 in Graham, Texas, and peacefully passed away on November 27th, 2023 in the comfort of his home.

Don worked for the City of Oklahoma City until he retired. He had a special fondness for fishing, and many of his happiest moments were spent by the water, casting his line and relishing the tranquility of the great outdoors. If he was not out peddling around and taking in the beauty of nature, he could also be found in front of an episode of Gunsmoke while snacking on pork rinds or watermelon, or spending time with his granddaughter watching The Golden Girls.

Don had an onery sense of humor and never met a stranger, It is a known joke within his family and friends that he would try to buy whatever he could for a quarter.

Don spent 41 wonderful years with his beloved wife Ida Mae Blay who passed away before him. Also, preceding Don in passing is his parents Leonard Joe Blay and Rosana Blay-Smith, as well as his paternal grandparents Fred and Susie Blay. He is reunited in the afterlife with his siblings, Yvonnia Blay LaNoy, and his granddaughter, Donni Renaye Spruill.

He is survived by his dear sister, Beverly Whitson (Blanchard), his loving children: Tina Weeks of Mcloud, LaDonna Caviness of Bartlesville, Penny Spruill of McLoud, Leonard V. and Rebecca Blay of Cashion. His pride and joy extended to his grandchildren: Stephanie, Brandy, Jacob and Kayla, Amanda and Phillip, Amber, Angel, Cassie, Donnie, Zayden, Adelyn, and Jenson.
