Donell Ray Pettitt, age 82, passed away on September 9, 2018 at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was born in Elk City, Oklahoma, on November 26, 1935, to Clayton and Edith (Bryant) Pettitt. Don graduated from Elk City High School and soon after moved to Amarillo, Texas to work for Texaco. Don married Patsy Scott of McAlester, OK on October 27, 1956. An entrepreneur and US Army Veteran, Don began his first business, Pettitt Pump Service, in 1964. Over the years, he started other businesses in Guymon, OK, Gruver, TX, and Meeker, OK. Don also worked for the State of Oklahoma inspecting gas stations in his later years. Don found his true calling and identity in Christ and in the church. He loved his church and served as a Sunday School Teacher for over 50 years. He believed in the Great Commission and gave generously to support Assemblies of God Missions. Don is a long-term member of the Meeker Assembly of God Church. He taught his children and grandchildren the importance of serving the church and serving others. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Edith, and his brother Ronnie. Don is survived by his wife, Pat; three sons: Greg (Connie), Michael (Lisa) and Bryan (Kelley) of Texas. Grandchildren: Kristen (Daniel), Crystal (Cody), Brittney, Lauren, Ryan, Rachel (Timothy), Grace and Scott. Great-grandchildren: Ethan, Meranda, Ty, Aslan, Aurora, Ezra and Aniken. He is also survived by his brother, Glen, his sister, Brenda (Clinton), and many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Don loved woodworking, building, tools, telling stories, and Southern Gospel Music. Don was a Godly example to the entire family and to everyone he met. He truly was a reflection of Jesus and what we all strive to be every day. We will miss him, his stories, and his presence with us, but we know we will be reunited again. Funeral services will be held this Friday, 2pm, at Meeker Assembly of God Church, he will be interred at DFW National Cemetery in Arlington, Texas.
