Obituary

Erma Lee Nicely, a beloved figure known for her spirited nature and deep devotion to family, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, in her hometown of Meeker. Born on December 28, 1940, in Shawnee, Erma lived a life marked by warmth, resilience, and an unmistakable feistiness that endeared her to all who knew her.

Those who knew Erma often described her as a little feisty firecracker—outspoken yet incredibly loving. Her vibrant personality was complemented by her many passions, which included picking blackberries, tending to her garden, garage saling, cooking for her family, and most importantly, spending quality time with her loved ones. These interests not only brought her joy but also brought her family closer together, creating cherished memories that will endure.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Geneva Beal, her children Baby Girl Nicely, Kenneth Dan Nicely and her siblings Glen Beal, James Beal, and Freda Beal Dougherty. Though these losses were deeply felt, Erma's legacy continues through her surviving family members, who were a source of great comfort to her in her final days.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Danny Mason Nicely, with whom she shared many years of companionship and love. Her family expanded through her grandchildren, Melissa Way and Thomas, and her great-grandchildren: Lauren Jessop and Titus, Kylie Way, and Ella Way. The joy of her life also included her great-great-grandchild, Kenlie Jessop, a precious reminder of the generations she helped nurture and inspire.

Erma’s sister, Joyce Roberts, and the brother and sister-in-law, David Keith and Sherry Nicely, also survive her, standing together as a testament to the bonds of family that Erma cherished so deeply.

The family will honor Erma’s memory with a graveside service on May 14, 2026, at New Hope Cemetery located on Oklahoma 18 in Meeker, Oklahoma. The service will begin at 10:00 a.m. and conclude at 11:00 a.m., providing an opportunity for family and friends to gather in reflection and remembrance.

Erma Lee Nicely’s life was one of spirited love, fierce independence, and a limitless heart for those she held dear. Passed surrounded by her family, she leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to share in her remarkable journey. Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
