Obituary

Glenn L. Pettitt, 81, long-time resident of Meeker, Oklahoma, passed away on June 16, 2020. He was born to parents Clayton and Edith (Bryant) Pettitt in a small farm house north of Elk City, Oklahoma. Glenn graduated from Elk City High School in 1956. He met his wife, Norma Winter of Meeker Oklahoma, at Elk City Assembly of God and they were married in Meeker on January 30, 1960. They immediately relocated to Dallas, Texas, where Glenn went to work for Braniff Airways. That was the beginning of a life of travel and adventure for Glenn and Norma Pettitt. While moving between Dallas, Amarillo, San Antonio, and Oklahoma City with Braniff, they started a family and eventually settled in Meeker in 1969 where he spent the next 40 plus years commuting to Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City also working for Northwest Airline and ending his career with Delta. Joining the family were three sons - Leslie, Larry, and Darren - and in 1981 they adopted three daughters - Evonda, Samantha, and Dolly. Glenn's occupation chose him, allowing him to feed his love of airplanes, travel, and eventually seeing the world over. Most of all, he was able to exercise his incredible ability to deal with people of all temperaments. His patience with irritated passengers (along with the rest of the passengers) was legendary and left him with repeat (often celebrity) clients his entire career. He faithfully served Jesus and poured his life into Meeker Assembly of God where he led many vital functions of the church. Glenn was a Royal Ranger leader, Sunday School teacher, youth leader, and served as a deacon for more than 40 years. Even as dementia progressed and began to overtake his mind, his concern and dedication to the church were unwavering. Glenn was active in his community coaching little league baseball, leading Meeker Band Boosters, and serving on the Meeker Board of Education for eight years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Edith; brothers Don and Ronnie; and daughter Samantha. Glenn is survived by his wife, Norma of Meeker; three sons - Les (Rita) of Bethany, Oklahoma; Larry (Lisa) of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Darren (Paula) of Trophy Club, Texas; two daughters - Evonda and Dolly of Seminole, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren; and sister Brenda (Dwayne) Clinton of Springdale, Arkansas.
