Grace Jewel (Smith) Carpenter, of Tecumseh, passed away Saturday December 7, 2019 in Shawnee Oklahoma. Grace was born on August 26, 1926 in Tribbey, Oklahoma to William Isaac Smith and Flora (Newton) Smith. She was raised in Tribbey and Macomb are and attended school in both Tribbey and Trousdale schools. Grace married Willie Allen Carpenter in Tecumseh, Oklahoma on December 23,1948. Grace was a homemaker and baked pies for local restaurants for many years, and also mowed lawns, cleaned houses, and took in ironing. She also enjoyed playing wahoo, and singing. She was preceded in death by both her parents; husband Willie Carpenter in 1979; 2 sons Willie Owen Carpenter and Ervin Lee Carpenter; two sisters; Lorene Miner and Nettie Smith; two brothers, Johnnie Smith and Doyle Smith. Left behind to mourn her passing are three daughters, Doris and Ira Swearingen of Choctaw; Cathy Johnson of Tecumseh; Flora and Wayne Lowery of Tecumseh. Two sisters, Evelyn Harris of Texas, and Cleo Jett of Shawnee, As well as eleven grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and extended family and friends.
