IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jackie "Jack"
Dalton Q Jackson
August 29, 1952 – May 29, 2025
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Jackie 'Jack' Dalton Jackson. Jack
passed as he always wanted to – peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on May 29,
2025, at the age of 72.
Born on August 28, 1952, in Tucumcari, New Mexico, to Wanda and Hulen Jackson, Jack
spent his young childhood there and in Texas, before moving to Moore, Oklahoma. After
graduating from Moore High School in 1970, he enlisted in the Army, serving his country for
three years and taking college courses in Political Science.
In 1977, Jack met Patti Gean Myatt, also of Moore, OK and the two were married just a few
short months later, on May 7, 1977. They had two children together and raised their family
in Oklahoma City before settling down on five acres in Midwest City, OK. They were married
for 48 years, celebrating their anniversary just a couple of weeks prior to his death.
It was during their marriage that Jack started a successful paper hanger/wall covering
business that would continue for twenty-six years. There weren't many commercial
buildings in Oklahoma City (and even the surrounding areas) that he hadn't worked in.
Driving around town with Jack, you were almost guaranteed to hear him say, "I hung
wallpaper in that building." One of his prouder moments – and certainly anxious one! – was
when he was asked to hang a mural of a well-known artist in the National Cowboy &
Western Heritage Museum. He was a true craftsman, whose work reflected a skill and
discipline not replicated by many and admired by all.
Music was also a great passion of Jack's. His mother encouraged this by buying him his first
drum set, which he kept the entirety of his life. The first date he and Patti went on was to
see 'The Who' in concert. An avid drummer and sound man, he raised his children around
his love of music, often in the form of weekly jam sessions in the family living room… and
often to the chagrin of his wife.
When his son, Justin, showed an interest in the guitar, Jack encouraged and supported him
by signing his son up for guitar lessons and acting as the sound man for the first band he
was in. For the next 35 years, Jack rarely missed an opportunity to see Justin perform. He
supported and encouraged all his children's passions. Whether it was building coops for
his daughter, Sarah's FFA chickens or transporting her goats in his work van, he dreamed
his children's dreams with them and did whatever he could to help them come to fruition.
A life-long learner, Jack had many hobbies and interests: running, drafting and gardening
were just a few. He truly was a 'Jack' of all trades, and he approached them all with the
same passion and vigor.
There are so many wonderful moments and memories… so many Sweet N Low packets,
but never enough words to express what he meant to us all. There will never be another
Jack Jackson.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Alice Burris, his father Hulen Jackson,
maternal grandparents, Thomas and Velma Starritt, paternal grandmother, Winnie Sherrod,
and Uncle Vanden Starritt. He is survived by his wife Patti of 48 years, 3 children – Justin
Jackson of Moore, OK, Sarah Vezolles and husband, Frank of Moore, OK, and Jimmy
Lawrence of Oklahoma City, OK., sister, Marsha Daggs and husband Van of Midwest City,
OK, brother, Tom Jackson of Kingfisher, OK, brother Chase Burris and wife Karen of Austin,
Tx, Aunt Jane Binford of Longview, Tx., his grandchildren, many nieces and nephews,
beloved friends, his loyal dog, Gertie, and his first great grandchild, arriving this August.
There will be family memorial at a future date, to celebrate the great man, son, brother,
friend, husband and father that he was and the life that was so well lived.
