James Milton Brooks Jr., a devoted family man and passionate music lover, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on January 29, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, James lived a life rich with dedication, hard work, and heartfelt enthusiasm for the things that mattered most to him.

James was a man who treasured his family above all else. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Michelle Brooks, and her wife, Shawna Brooks; his son, Jaakob Brinkmeyer; and his sister, Maryann Miller. His legacy also lives on through his cherished grandchildren—Autumn, Madison, Kamiron, Britney, Zoie, and Izaak—as well as his great-grandchildren Ryder, Urijah, Adian, Grayson, and Atraeus. He was also fondly regarded by numerous nieces and nephews whose lives he touched deeply. James was preceded in death by his beloved parents, James and Mildred Brooks, and his sister, Sandra.

A lifelong enthusiast of football, James was an ardent Dallas Cowboys fan, faithfully supporting his team with unwavering passion. His love for music was equally profound. An accomplished drummer, he delighted in attending concerts by his favorite band, Chicago, whenever he had the opportunity. Music was not just a pastime for James—it was an integral part of his identity and joy. Alongside his musical pursuits, he cherished spending quality time with his family, finding immense happiness in those moments of togetherness.

James was known as a hardworking man who dedicated himself tirelessly to providing for his family, always striving to give them the best life possible. His commitment and resilience were defining characteristics that earned him great respect and admiration from all who knew him.

The family will receive friends and loved ones for visitation on June 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Brown's Family Funeral Home, located at 416 E Broadway, McLoud, Oklahoma. A funeral service to honor and celebrate James's life will be held the following day, June 16, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the same location, with services concluding at 3:00 p.m.
