It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry Lawrence Cartmill. Jerry passed away at home in Shawnee, Oklahoma on June 6, 2025. Jerry passed away after a long battle with kidney failure, and we feel at peace knowing that he can rest now and is reunited with his beloved wife Nila.
Jerry was born on March 21, 1946 in Goose Creek, Texas to his parents Lucille Mars Cartmill and Obie Cartmill.
His family moved to the town of Farmersville, Texas when Jerry was just two years old to open a dairy farm. Jerry's parents Lucille and Obie Cartmill preceded him in death along with his oldest brother John Cartmill.
Jerry was the beloved husband of Nila June Cartmill is bride of 46 years. He married the love of his life Nila June Cartmill on August 28, 1979.
Nila preceded him in death on September 30, 2024.
He was a cherished father and father in law to his beloved daughter Fallon Gail Temple and husband Maxey Temple of Shawnee, Oklahoma; son Jerry Earl Cartmill and wife Tracy of Oklahoma; step son Diron Hill and wife Holly of New Mexico. He was a devoted and loving grandfather to Jerry Earl Jr Cartmill, Jacy Cartmill, Patrick Cole and wife Madison of Kentucky, Caden Cartmill of Oklahoma; and Haidyn Hill. He also had 3 grand grand kids. Jerry had four brothers. John Cartmill who preceded him in death; Obie Cartmill and wife Donna of Princeton, Texas; Gerald Cartmill of Roxton, Texas; James Cartmill and wife Susan of Flower Mound, Texas. He was a beloved uncle to many nephews and nieces. Jerry never meet a stranger. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Please join us for a gathering to celebrate the life of Jerry Lawrence Cartmill, who passed away on June 6, 2025. We'll be reminiscing, sharing stories, and remembering the joy that Jerry brought to our lives. Let's gather on September 20, 2025 at 12:00 pm, at Lakeland Park Pavilion in Farmersville, Texas to honor Jerry and his love of fishing. Jerry loved fishing in the lake, so we hope you'll keep it casual and bring your fishing pole and dress in your favorite camo or fishing gear. We're going to have a barbeque an grill his favorite chicken wings and brats. Please bring along your favorite side dishes or desserts to share along with your own drinks and chairs.
