Obituary

Johnny Eugene Harper passed away on Saturday January 23, 2021 at the age of 72 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. John was born on December 25, 1948 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Norman and Ramona Harper. He attended Bowlegs High School and served in the U.S. Army. He met the love of his life, Mary and the two were married on March 8, 1971. They had three sons, Scott, Chris and Bo. They raised their family in the Norman, Oklahoma area. John devoted 30 years of civil service at Tinker Airforce Base. John enjoyed sports especially when it came to coaching little league baseball and the cherished Oklahoma Sooners. He loved being surrounded by family and friends on an OU gameday. He enjoyed spending his time on road trips, fishing and going to casinos with family and friends. John brought unexpected love, joy and entertainment to the expected and the unexpected. He loved unconditionally. John was often heard saying "good things happen to good people" and " it is what it is." He is preceded in death by both his parents and infant granddaughter Lilah Lou Harper. He is survived by his wife Mary Harper, three sons, Scott and his wife Amanda Harper of Noble, Ok., Chris Harper of Shawnee, Ok., Jonathon "Bo" Harper and Felicia Shaver and daughter Kyree of Eufaula, Ok. Three sisters, Pat and husband Tom Reavis of Shawnee, Ok., Linda and Jim Thetford of Shawnee, Ok., Gayla and Randy Ritter of McLoud, Ok. One bother, Jerry and wife Heidi of Oklahoma City, Ok. Seven grandchildren, Kolton and wife Kelly Harper, Carli Harper, Addison and husband Michael Chandler, Shelby Harper, Braden Harper, Mason Harper and River Harper. Three great grandchildren, Drew, Emmit and Carly. Many beloved nieces, nephews and family members. Special longtime friends, Elmer and Brenda Lucas and Dean Yingling. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 5, 2021 at Life Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma under the care and direction of Brown's Family Funeral Home in McLoud, Ok.
