June Joann Piper, lovingly known as Nana or Juner, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Thursday, March 27, 2025. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life on Saturday, April 12, at 1 PM at the Clasbey Center, 400 E Duncan Drive, Savannah, MO 64485.
June was a beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born on May 3, 1936, in Bowling Green, MO, to Lloyd Clayvell and Irene Anderson Clayvell.
June enjoyed singing in church, camping, fishing, baking for others, cross-stitching, and gardening. Over the years, she has had many careers, including switchboard operator at Levering Hospital and deli clerk at IGA. She worked at Walmart for several years before retiring. After retirement, she and Piper traveled in their RV and worked at Corps of Engineer campgrounds as hosts in Missouri, Arizona, and Texas. Their favorite host location was Fort Parker in Mexia, TX, where they made many friends. After Piper's death in 2012, June lived and worked in Branson for five years before settling in Savannah, MO, near family. She was surrounded by friends and neighbors that she loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard (Jay) Piper, son Bradford Riley, stepson Lawrence (Linda) Piper, daughter-in-law Sharon Piper, and four siblings, Sarah, Laura, John, and infant twin sister Josephine Jewel.
Survivors include her children, Cindy (Garry) Tucker, Deirdra/Sam (Alan) Maraist, Alesia/Gator (Lonnie) Hamilton, Richard (Janeth) Piper, Dustin (Jess) Piper, stepdaughter Linda (Jack) Immegart, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
