Linda Kathryn Carlton passed away peacefully at her home near Wellston on May 7, 2019, following her two year journey with cancer. Linda's childhood was happily spent in Coffeyville, Kansas, with her parents, Carl Raymond and Olive Belt, and her two older sisters, Marianne and Roberta. After college she moved to Tulsa where she worked as a Systems Engineer for I.B.M. She eventually moved to Wellston, Oklahoma after falling in love with Ted Carlton, an Oklahoma City police officer with a country home near Wellston. Despite always having been a city girl, she adapted enthusiastically to country life. She took great pride in winning awards at the county fair for her canned tomatoes, and she loved her horses and her flock of 30 chickens. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Olive Belt, as well as her sister, Marianne Smith. Linda is survived by her husband Ted and her four children (Paige Nittler, Christopher Carlton, Cole Carlton and Conor Carlton). One of Linda's favorite phrases was, "There's nothing more important than family." She loved her family greatly. She never missed a sport's practice or game. She attended school concerts and musicals. She even served on the Wellston school board for 15 years. She took pride in watching her children grow up, marry and have children of their own. Her seven grandchildren are shown in the accompanying picture, and she has another due in August.
In addition to her immediate family, Linda is also survived by her sister, Roberta John; a host of extended family; and many cherished friends.
Linda's expressed wish was to have no public service. The family will gather privately to celebrate her life at a later date. Linda was a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, kind friend, and engaged community member. Her beautiful smile, sarcastic humor, and passionate zeal for life will be missed by all who knew her. In Lieu of flowers the family asked to make donations to there local Public School, or the Care Center in OKC.
