Obituary

Linda Dell Gallaway passed from this life and into the presence of Jesus on March 7, 2020 at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was born October 15, 1946 in Sayre, Oklahoma, the daughter of Melvin and Velma Dell Cook. In her younger years, her family lived and farmed on several properties in Western Oklahoma. They eventually relocated to Meeker, OK where Linda attended Meeker high School, and where she met Dean Gallaway. Linda and Dean married in 1961 and to this union, four sons were born. The couple divorced in 1971, and Linda poured her life into supporting and raising her four boys. She worked in various fields over the years, often working two jobs, ranging from manufacturing, service industry, several years at Tinker Air Force base and retired from her true passion of operating an in-home daycare center. Linda's love and tenderness were apparent in the way that she raised her sons and cared for her parents, nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. This great love is a part of the treasured legacy that she has handed down to everyone who was fortunate enough to know her, and especially all those who had the opportunity to spend time at "Mamaw's." If you knew Mamaw, you knew that she held to some firm convictions: Elvis - was "the Man" With Joe Montana coming in a close second. If you were a child or a puppy - she loved you unconditionally. The less you had, the more she loved you - material items meant nothing to her. There was NEVER a garage sale she would pass by without stopping. The clothes she wore were not of importance, but her baby dolls only wore the best. Diet Dr. Pepper and gummie bears were her favorite foods. There was no excuse for being dirty, "Clorox is cheap." Her walls and refrigerator were covered with pictures of her family! There was never a picture not worth hanging. No one could fold a fitted sheet like Mamaw! I think you could have slid it back into the original packing after it was washed and dried. She was small in stature but you better be ready when she got mad. She was known for spanking her boys with whatever she grabbed first and she was always quick to add that you got the spanking because you deserved it. Many believe she should have been a doctor, because her doctors never knew what they were talking about, they were all quacks. Survivors include four sons - Bobby (Glenda) Gallaway, Tommy (Angi) Gallaway, James (Tina) Gallaway, and Kevin (Jessica) Gallaway. Four Brothers - Eugene (Rebecca) Cloud, Raymond (Sue) Cook, Melvin Jr. (Karen) Cook, and Bobby (Cleta) Cook. Fourteen Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents, three sisters - Delores Jean Stinnett, Gola Faye Langley, and Billie Deanna Cloud Davis, and one brother - O'Dell Cook. Memorials In Lieu of Flowers can be made The CARE Center.
