IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Loretta Jo
(Dunsmore) Rowland
April 5, 1942 – May 15, 2025
It is with sadness for OUR loss, but grateful jubilance for her escape from a mean imprisonment by Alzheimer's dementia, that we announce Loretta's passing on Thursday, May 15, 2025.
Momma was a good and faithful servant to her lord and savior Jesus Christ, first and foremost. She served him with the most humble, loving heart. She taught all of us how life should be led.
There are probably very few that haven't been blessed with her presence.
Loretta was born to Everett and Jessie Mae (Holman) Dunsmore on April 5, 1942.
She was the third of their 7 children, but the only girl, making her the apple of her Daddy's eye, forever. She was a Baby Sister, to Dean and Eugene, and a Big sister (surrogate Mother, at times) to Jimmy, Billy, Danny, and Donald.
These brothers gave Loretta nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
On October 28, 1960, she became the wife, and loyal companion, to Ray Rowland. She would (and did) follow him anywhere. From the coldest they had ever been, stationed in South Dakota, during his Army deployment, to many bowling alleys in Oklahoma and surrounding states, to nearly every softball field in America (including Hawaii). We later learned she didn't even really LIKE baseball, but Daddy died, not knowing that. That was just the kind of giving person she was.
In April of 1963, they were given their first child, Kari, and followed that blessing with another, in February of 1966, with the arrival of Donna.
Kari and Donna went on to bless this family with the arrival of their husbands, Richard Seaborn and Glenn Harris, respectively. (We have sometimes wondered who she would choose, should we decide to divorce them.
Those unions blessed Loretta even further, with 7 grandchildren:Bradley and wife Stephanie, Ryan and wife Christi, Tommy and wife Elisha, Kristen and husband Austin, Crystal and John, Andrea and husband James, and Richard and wife Mandi.
As you can imagine, those grandchildren gave her the most precious 17 great grandchildren:
Ryan, Mattingly, Bryce, Brooks, Texas, Canyon, Brody, McKenna, Gage, Jade, Caden, Autumn, Randall, Daniel, Kevin, Destiny and Cayden:
Even though Alzheimer's had its evil hold on her, by then, those great grandchildren have added 4 great-great-grandchildren to the fold:
Ryder, Remington, Ezra and Baker
As you've probably already presumed, her love and childlike personality and big grin will be deeply missed.
The family will be receiving guests, who we are sure loved her almost as much as we did, at a viewing Tuesday, May 20th, from 4-8p, at Brown's Funeral Home in McLoud.
Loretta's Funeral Service will be graciously hosted by the McLoud First Baptist Church, where she taught, and worked for over 30 years, as their Sunday School teacher and Church Secretary, Wednesday, May 215t @ 10am, conducted by our dear friend and pastor Larry Sparks, with interment to follow at McLoud Riverside Cemetery.
