IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marie
Decoteau
April 13, 1938 – October 8, 2025
In loving memory of Marie DeCoteau (DuBois), who was born on April 13, 1938, in Belcourt, North Dakota, and passed away peacefully at her home on October 8, 2025. She was the daughter of Andrew DuBois and Catherine Reaney (DuBois) and one of many siblings in a large, spirited family. She was a proud member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians.
In 1955, Marie married Raymond DeCoteau, and together they had seven children. They eventually settled in Oklahoma, where she lived for the remainder of her life.
A hard worker all her life, Marie retired from Diamond Crystal Specialty Foods. Retirement didn't slow her down, in fact, it gave her more time to enjoy the simple things she loved. She had a green thumb and could often be found in her garden, tending to her flowers. She was an avid reader and puzzle enthusiast, always keeping her mind sharp with a good mystery novel or a challenging jigsaw. Marie also had a deep love for animals and always had pets in her life. Whether it was a dog curled up at her feet or a cat keeping her company, her pets were an important part of her world and brought her a great deal of comfort and happiness.
But perhaps nothing brought her quite as much excitement as NFL football. A diehard Dallas Cowboys fan, Marie rarely missed a game and was proud to call herself their number one fan. She took her football seriously and cheered on the Cowboys every season without fail.
Family meant everything to Marie. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was known for her strength, resilience, quick wit, and no-nonsense honesty — qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Marie is survived by her devoted children: Lonnie DeCoteau (Carol), Ray DeCoteau, Jamie DeCoteau (Andrea), and Dawn Ramey (Thomas); twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Carol DuBois (Arizona), Darlene Nelson (Illinois), Elaine Postpichal (Florida), Patricia Handorf (Mexico), Joe DuBois (Florida), and Gerard DuBois (Nevada), along with many nieces and nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her sons Kenny, Randy, and Jay, her parents Andrew and Catherine, and her brothers Ted, Ed, Ernie, Richard, Tony, Tom, Donnie, Gene, and Timothy.
A memorial service will be held at Victory Family Church, 2301 E Highland St, Shawnee, OK 74801, at 3:00 PM on November 16, 2025. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marie's life.
