Mary Jane Byrd of Shawnee, Ok, was born November 10, 1928, in Keota, Ok, to William Henry Thomas and Edna Mae Thomas. On December 6, 2018, Mary peacefully passed away at her home with family by her side. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her friends and family as a faithful Christian woman of much strength and kindness. She enjoyed her life with husband Ernest Byrd and their seven children. Most of her daily pleasures were cooking for the family, summer vegetable gardening, flower gardening, sewing, and managing a household of seven children. After the children were grown, Mary began a career as a home care provider, and became a talented seamstress. Mary was preceded in death by her husband; oldest son, Jimmy; her parents; and four siblings. She will be missed by her remaining children, their spouses, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter, Jane Spillars and husband Roger of Stillwater, OK; her sons: David and wife Deana of Moore; Danny and wife Connie of Shawnee; Steven of Shawnee; Richard of Shawnee; Michael and wife Deborah of Shawnee; brothers Olen Thomas of Keota, and Kirby Thomas of Keota; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Funeral services by Brown Family Funeral Home of McCloud, will be Wednesday, December 12, at Blackburn Chapel on Lake Road, Bethel Acres, with burial in Blackburn Cemetery. Visitation at funeral home will be Tuesday 10 am to 5 pm.
