Obituary

Born in Amarillo Texas 7/29/1934 died 3/11/2025

Raised in Kansas City until 9 years old, then living in El Reno until about 17 years old when his family moved to California and he attended his junior year in high school there.

His work career was such that it would lead him into military service in 1959, where he was stationed in Germany and then in Fort Hood Texas during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After serving his country he returned to California serving as a deputy marshal for LA county for a time. Then in 1965 he joined the California Highway Patrol for a number of years. In his later years he worked for short periods for numerous places the shortest being the how Texas police department. Much to the Chagrin and news articles published about his eminent position Max worked about 2 weeks before returning to his beloved home in Shawnee.

During his early life Max married and had three children two girls and a boy Peggy Sue and Thomas but in 1970 Max married the love of his life and devoted partner Ann in California.

In 1974 Max and Ann moved to Shawnee joining Liberty Baptist at that time. Max enjoyed serving the lord in many ways, through service at the church during this time from working in the cafeteria to singing in the choir.

Max used his voice to bring comfort and joy to many people even during his final days at the hospital. Although some were not always praise! they brought a smile to those who heard his beautiful rich base vocals.

Max and Ann owned Benton's Cafe in town and it was during this time that Max for the pursued his passion of flying. Even taking Pastor Matthews on a few trips.

Of course there was never a shortage of eager passengers.

He is survived by his beloved and his daughter, son, granddaughters great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and family members along with treasured friends.

Ever removed from this Earthly Realm forever dwelling within our hearts and mind.
