O.J. Haskell Watson, born on January 26, 1938, peacefully entered into rest on June 25, 2024, at the age of 86. A man who never met a stranger, O.J. was known for his warm heart, deep faith, and love for his family and community.
O.J. is survived by his devoted wife, Josephine Watson, who stood by his side through thick and thin, sharing a life filled with love and devotion. He was a loving father to Haskell and Belcy, David Watson and Pepolina, Deanna Watson, Tina M. Watson, Cretia Roe and Ron, Allen Hawks and Chrisy, Lorretta Hawks, Gwen Hawks, Becoy Hawks and Shawna, Adelina Keefer and Charlie, Randy Hawks, Angela Hawks, and Anita Hawks.
A proud grandfather, O.J. cherished his time with his grandchildren: Martisha, Louis, Christina, Dewayne, Richard, Mathew, Jonathan, King, Angel, Precilla, Tosha, Anna, Curtis, Herschel, Vanessa, Daniel, Belcy Lynn, Joseph, Joshua, Roy, John, Jessica, Trey, Whitney, Elizabeth, Sara, Anthony, Leah, Jason, Maria, Brittney, Amber, Christa, Brittney, Destiny, Desara, Rachel, Farrin, and Angela. He was also blessed with numerous great and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
O.J. was a dedicated member of his church community, where he found great comfort and strength. As a prayer warrior, he was committed to his faith, loved his Lord, and shared his spiritual wisdom with all. His presence in church and his unwavering faith served as an inspiration to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Herschel, Charley, and Grady, his sisters Athel and Mary Ruth, and his children Jancie Watson, Herschel Watson, and Vanessa Hawks.
O.J.'s legacy of love, faith, and kindness will forever be remembered by those who had the honor of knowing him. His family, friends, and community will miss him dearly, but they find solace in knowing he is at peace with his Lord.
