Obituary

Richard Allen Sweeden, age 75, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 5:45 A.M. surrounded by his immediate family.

Rick was born in Hot Springs, AR on May 23, 1950 to John W. (Sr) and Helen R (Slaten) Sweeden, and later moved to Oklahoma to live with his beloved guardians, Louie O. and Marian G (Pacey) Roulston [Dad and Mom]. During his senior year of high school, Rick enlisted in the US Army and served in Vietnam, followed by a combined 34 years of military service (17 US Army & 17 US Air Force) as well as 32 years of Civil Service at Tinker Air Force Base. Outside of work Rick enjoyed golf, music (guitar), fishing, hunting, horses, OU & Denver Bronchos football, and time on his family's farm, but most of all…cooking BBQ for family and friends.

Rick is survived by his wife, Donna Sweeden (of the home), his children: Kelly Johnson, Erica (Kelly) Martin, Susan (Michael) Lockhart, his siblings: Betty Sue Davis, Clyde David Sweeden, Mark Timothy (Alberta) Sweeden, Mary Helen York, his grandchildren: Tiffany (Andrew) Groff, Ethan Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Jesse Allen (Joy) Martin, Krystle (Kendall Rogers) Martin, Pacei Lockhart, and Emmalyn Lockhart. Additionally, Rick had 7 great grandchildren as well as a host of extended family and dear friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, guardians and siblings including Frances Dolores Sweeden, John W. Sweeden II, Merlene Rose Lynch, Paul Daniel Sweeden, Linda Hardin  and Kenneth Marvin Kilgore, son-in-law Stacey Johnson, as well as one great grandson.

A Celebration of Life will be held at First Christian Church of Midwest City, OK on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 2 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Rick's name.

Internment will be at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, OK in a private ceremony at a later date.
