Russell Eugene Saar, 77, of Harrah passed away peacefully in his home May 7, 2024, surrounded by his family. Russell was born on December 19, 1946 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Donald Russell and Iva Mae Saar. Russell was one of 3 children. Russell enjoyed doing leather work. He made all kinds of purses, wallets, and belts. He enjoyed spending time with his family, he did everything possible to take care of them.
Russell served in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970, he was stationed on the USS Brinkly Bass out of Long Beach, California. He did two active tours in Vietnam. He worked at Tinker AFB as a Boiler Engineer for 30 years then retired at the age of 53. In the early 1970's, Russell and his wife tore down turn of the century houses and cleaned all the lumber to build their forever home. He used the family handyman, "Do it yourself encyclopedia" to figure out how to build it.
Russell is preceded in death by his father, Donald Russell Saar, his mother, Iva Mae (Justice) (Saar) Gast, his stepfather, James Percy Gast, his sisters, Maelena Cummings and Moretta Hennen and her husband Chuck Hennen and his niece Melinda Halsted.
Russell is survived by his beautiful bride, Mary Juanita of 56 years. His 4 children daughter, Tressa and husband Wesley Cochran, his daughter, Teffonie Saar-Carrigan, his son, James and his wife Jennifer Saar, and his daughter, Russtine and her husband Chris Hamilton. His 14 grandchildren Virgie, Emily, Holly, Weston, Jordan and Aron Cochran, Alexander Carrigan, Jentry, JC, Jeremiah Saar, Hunter, Hayden, and Hudson Lynam, and Thomas Hamilton. 2 great grandchildren, Paisley Woolery and Grayson Cochran. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. All who loved him very much.
