Obituary

Sharon Kay Moore, age 78, of Shawnee, OK, passed away at 8:25 pm on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at McLoud Nursing Center in McLoud, OK. Sharon was born March 28, 1943, on Rainbow Ranch, north of Sycamore, KS to Floyd Martin and Rev. Annalina Holt. She married Rev. Ronald E. Moore, son of Rev. C. L. and Ruth Lovinna Moore, on May 28, 1960 at Rays of Faith Tabernacle in Independence, KS, the day after she graduated from Independence High School. Sharon was immediately offered a legal secretary position, but ended up staying home and raising four children. They lived in many places across the state of Kansas, where she eventually entered the workforce as a certified nursing assistant, waitress, cashier, head start assistant and was always active in church life. She enjoyed reading, music, playing the piano, embroidery, crossword puzzles, cooking, bowling, traveling, people, family and church life. After Ron pastored for two years in Clay Center, Kansas, they became missionaries to the Native American Indians on the Shoshone-Arapahoe Wind River Indian Reservation in Wyoming in 1995. They served there for 7 years and ministered on other reservations in California, Nevada, Montana and Canada before returning to Independence in 2002 to care for her mother, a longtime resident of Independence and a local centenarian in 2006. She spent her remaining years with a daughter at Shawnee and McLoud, OK. Survivors include two sons, Rev. Ronald E. and Lorraine Moore, Jr. of Coram, Long Island, NY, Samuel B. and Julie P. Moore of Helena, MT, and two daughters, Tonya R. Miller, of Choctaw, OK, and Aaron F. and Anna Gaylene Nelson, of East Helena, MT. Fourteen grandchildren, Mathew B. Moore, Meagan R. Moore and Micah J. Moore, Jon E. and Brianne N. Golliver, Ryan A. and Shiloh R. Wesner, Nathan B. Nelson, David L. Nelson, Jacob J. Nelson, Tamara J. Dalhstedt, Joshua S. and Laura J. Moore, Jennifer D. Moore, Nicholas H. and Codianne M. Loomer, Kathryn A. Loomer and Alexander J. Loomer. Ten great grandchildren, Aralynn F. Marlowe, Ily R. Miller, Landon B. Moore, Faith E. Wesner, Madison M. Moore, Liam M. Nelson, Karoline G. Golliver, Rhema H. Wesner, Brooklyn R. Golliver, and soon to be born Skylar J. Wesner. A brother Rex L. and Rita K. Knoles of Emporia, KS, a brother-in-law Thomas B. "Blu" and Valerie D. Moore of Bonney Lake, WA, along with many nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Rev Ronald E Moore Sr., parents, Floyd Martin and Rev. Annalina Holt, a brother Eugene Martin Holt, and three infant daughters, Rhonda Kay Moore, and twins, Gwenda Ray and Wenda Gay Moore. A viewing will be held from 5-8 pm on Saturday, July 31st at Brown's Family Funeral Home in McLoud, OK. The funeral service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, August 1st at the Family of Faith church in Shawnee, OK, with Rev. Ronald E. Moore, Jr. officiating. A graveside service and burial will be on Monday, August 2nd at 11 am in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, KS.
