IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Jean
Hutchison
September 3, 1947 – October 11, 2025
Shirley Jean Hutchison (affectionately known as Mom, Nana, and Red), born September 3, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025, at Meeker Nursing Center, where she had been lovingly cared for since shortly after her stroke in 2024.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Darrell Truman Hutchison; her son, Chad Northcutt; and her parents, Lillie Valentine Morris and Loyd L Morris.
Shirley is survived by her devoted daughters, Elizabeth Kaye Hutchison and Carrell Dee Hutchison; and by her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Nikole Diana Loveless, and her children Madison Layne Loveless and Camden Bryce Loveless; Kristina Michelle Holmes, fiancé Steve Hudson, and her children Cheyenne Molly Holmes and Lyle James Holmes II; Kali Rene Nakvinda, fiancé Braden Horn, and her son Brodyn Derik Hall; and Courtney Dee Hawkins, fiancé Kyle Medina, and their children Kensley Rae Medina and Cohen Lee Medina.
She also leaves behind her dear siblings: Brenda J Williamson, and her daughter Chantel Green, husband Gavin Green, and their son Blake; Diana Holland, husband Philip Holland, their children Brandon Holland and Alexandria Ferguson, her husband Damien Ferguson, and their son Reznor Ferguson; and Leland Morris, and his daughter Brooke Morris.
Shirley dedicated 37 years to federal government service—a career that took her across the globe to places like Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Along the way, she built lifelong friendships that have continued to this day and collected countless stories from her adventures abroad.
After retirement, Shirley embraced life with the same energy and enthusiasm that defined her. She found joy in selling home décor and real estate, but her true calling emerged as Queen of the Sassy Harlequins, her local Red Hat Society chapter. For the past seven years, she thrived in this role—dressing up, going out with her beloved Red Hat sisters, volunteering in the community, and spreading laughter and kindness wherever she went.
Shirley will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, radiant style, unwavering love for her family, and the joy she brought into every room. She lived fully, laughed often, and loved deeply—and those who knew her are better for it.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Chisholm Heights Baptist Church in Mustang, Oklahoma, where Shirley and Darrell were members in their later years.
In true Shirley fashion, all are encouraged to wear red, purple, red and purple, or anything "fancy"—because dressing up and enjoying life to the fullest was one of her favorite things to do.
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.'" —John 11:25–26
