Steven Jacob Goodnight, affectionately known as Jake, was born on June 18, 1986, in Ada, Oklahoma. He tragically departed from this life too soon on April 5, 2026. Jake’s life was marked by deep love for his family, his faith, his country, and his passions — all of which helped shape the ornery man he was.
Jake’s birthplace of Ada was a cornerstone throughout his life. He was a devoted fan of OU Football and Baseball, passionately supporting the OU - Texas rivalry that excited his spirit. Time spent fishing and taking his beloved dogs on drives brought him quiet joy, but his happiest moments were spent at home with his wife, Valeri Goodnight, and their cherished companions, Lady, Samaje, Tramp and Rafiki. Equally meaningful to Jake were adventures in the mountains alongside his father, Steve Goodnight — a treasured retreat that was his happy place.
His commitment extended beyond family and hobbies. Jake was a man of faith who loved his God and his country deeply. As a steadfast supporter of Donald J. Trump, he embraced his convictions wholeheartedly. His love and loyalty to those close to him knew no bounds.
Jake and Valeri were married May 25, 2016, at Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh Oklahoma. Continuing a lifelong journey together.
Jake is mourned by his wonderful family who remain strong even in this time of loss. He is survived by his devoted wife, Valeri Goodnight; his proud parents, Steve Goodnight and Shelly Roland, along with Shelly’s husband, Dane Smart; his grandmother, Charlene Roland; and his grandparents, Chris and Molly Goodnight. He also leaves behind his dear sister, Stevy Hill, and her husband, Brett; nephews Jaxon Hill and his wife, Rachel, and Cade Hill; niece Sophie Hill; and numerous cousins, family members, and friends who hold him in their hearts.
The family also remembers with heavy hearts Jake’s beloved dog, Bodie, who predeceased him, as well as his grandfather, Papa Henry Roland.
A memorial service to honor Jake’s life will be held on April 17, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Central Church of Christ, located at 820 S Stadium Dr, Ada, Oklahoma. All who knew him are welcome to gather and celebrate the profound impact he had on their lives.
Jake’s memory will forever remain a beacon of love, joy, and steadfast dedication. His presence enriched the lives of all who knew him, and though taken too soon, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who cherished him dearly.
In Lieu of flowers the family has requested donations in his memory to be made to Pettijohn Springs Christian Camp.
