Obituary

Terry Leroy Weathers, born on December 28, 1960, left this world on July 14, 2026. To lose Terry is to lose a rare soul someone whose warmth, humor, and remarkable heart touched everyone he met. His passing leaves an unfillable space in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who were privileged enough to share in his journey.

Terry was a man who embodied deep love and steadfast presence. Throughout his life, these qualities shone through whether in the softly strummed melody of a song, lessons given with gentle humility, or a story shared under the canopy of a quiet, starlit evening. Musically inclined and artistically gifted, Terry had a natural grace in everything he did, from offering advice always with sincerity, to wielding tools as a craftsman in carpentry. These hands, talented at building and mending, held equal talent for embracing family and cultivating laughter.

A proud and avid hunter, Terry cherished the simple pleasures of sitting silently in the woods, feeling the pulse of nature around him. Yet perhaps nothing delighted him more than the boisterous, joyful gatherings of family, where he was right at home surrounded by those he so fiercely loved. He was also an animal lover, sharing a special bond with his goats and chickens and teaching others about kindness through his gentle stewardship.

Terry's immeasurable love touched his surviving family and friends deeply. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tammy Weathers. His legacy is further carried on by his daughters, Brandie Carter and Brittany Carper, and sons, Jason Carter and James Carper Sr. The sparkle of his life continues in his grandchildren: Katelyn Witherspoon, Jason, Jailyn Carper, James "Bubba" Carper Jr., Britlie Carter, Zackary Carter, and Braelynn "Brae" Carter. The laughter of his great-grandchildren, Rosalie "Roro" Carper and Jason "T-Spoon" Witherspoon Jr., will echo the love and joy Terry poured into every generation. As well as his previous spouse Pamela Churchwell and husband Johnnie Churchwell who always remained a part of the family and his brothers: Mike Weathers, Dallas Stephens, and Ronnie Stephens.

He is reunited in peace with those who went before him: his beloved son, Brent Weathers; his mother, Dorothy Stephens, and father, Leroy Weathers; his previous mother-in-law, Babara Hester; sister, Donna Beckwith; and brother, Kenneth Weathers. Their memories live on in Terry’s stories and the shared traditions that will stay woven through the fabric of the family.

Terry was renowned for being a great listener, a quality rare and treasured; he was always right at least, as he would good-naturedly remind those around him and above all, he was big on love. Ever the snacker, he found joy in the smallest things, a testament to his ability to appreciate life’s every moment, every flavor, every connection.

To know Terry was to feel the comfort of unconditional support, to laugh often, and to be wrapped in the certainty and safety of family. In his presence, one always felt heard, cherished, and gently guided. His wisdom, wit, and unwavering love will remain an enduring source of strength and inspiration for those he leaves behind.

Terry Leroy Weathers did more than live; he truly loved and cared, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, music, laughter, and boundless affection. His spirit will live forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
