He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary L. Vaughn; his children, Alan Vaughn, David Vaughn and wife Samantha, Curtis Vaughn, Terry Vaughn and ex-wife Regina, and Sheryl Vaughn; his step-son, Sean Michael Gray and wife Megan. He was a proud grandfather to Dylan, Ushawna, Raylon, Garrett, Tori, Daniel, Jeremy, Christian, Joseph, Michael, Trey, Jessica, Sequoia, and Odesza Gray, as well as numerous great-grandchildren. Virgil is survived also by his niece, Marlene Haley and spouse, Chuck Haley and niece Nancy Newberry and spouse, Sonny Newberry.
Virgil was a man of many passions. He had a deep love for aviation and obtained his pilot's license many years ago, cherishing the freedom of the skies. A lifelong fan of classic country and bluegrass music, he found joy in the melodies that shaped his life. Virgil was a devoted Christian who lived his faith daily. His adventurous spirit led him to travel, exploring new places and creating lasting memories.
As the oldest living land surveyor in Oklahoma, Virgil left a lasting impact or the profession and the land he worked so diligently to map and measure. Whe he wasn't working, he found peace in the simple joys of "piddling" on the farm, tending to the land and enjoying the quiet beauty of the countryside.
Virgil's legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering love.
