Wanda Jean Melton, cherished mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, in McLoud, Oklahoma, surrounded by the love and presence of her family. Wanda was born on May 3, 1942, in Clarksdale, Missouri, beginning a life that would become defined by warmth, devotion, and an unwavering bond with her loved ones.
Wanda’s legacy is lovingly carried on by her devoted husband, Terry; daughters Christina Dutcher, Kelly Farris, and Jodi Stinson; brother Vance Butler; her grandchildren Leslie, Jeffrey, Jessika, and Justin; and her great-grandchildren Gracie, Bryanna, Aubrie, Liam, Baylie, Blayne, Zavier, and Zoie. She was also blessed with the support and friendship of JR Gomme. Wanda’s family was the center of her universe, and she rejoiced in watching them grow and flourish through the years.
Wanda’s heart was large and inclusive, not only embracing her relatives, but extending deep affection toward dear friends and her treasured companion animals. She delighted in the joys of reading and eagerly attended her great grandson’s racing events, cheering him on with immense pride. Her love of animals was evident in her care for her chickens and her beloved fur babies—Toby, Lacey, Boomer, Jinny, and many more—all of whom brought her years of happiness and companionship. Wanda also shared an enthusiasm for computers, embracing new technology with curiosity and an open mind. These passions colored her days and reflected the wide range of interests that made her presence so vibrant and engaging.
Wanda’s journey through life was shaped by deeply valued relationships with those who preceded her in passing. She is reunited now with her husband Donnie Melton, her sister Ramona Million, and her brother Oran Butler. Each held a special place in her heart, and their memories remained cherished throughout her lifetime.
Family and friends will gather in remembrance of Wanda Jean Melton at a memorial service to be held on August 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Brown's Family Funeral Home, located at 416 E Broadway, McLoud, OK 74851. All who knew and loved Wanda are invited to join in commemorating the remarkable life she led—a testament to her gentle spirit, her generosity, and the meaningful connections she formed.
