Colleen Gail (Fuqua) Lowe was born 11/30/59 in Tulsa, OK to Melvin & Shirley (Smith) Fuqua. She attended Sapulpa Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1978. During her high school years she met her husband James (Jim) Lowe. They were married 6/14/80 and enjoyed 43 years of marriage before her untimely death. Colleen was truly a jack of all trades, she had worked as a school bus driver, school cafeteria lunch lady, paraprofessional, line worker at Pepsi, and was a licensed professional nurse working with the United Community Action Program HeadStart. In true nurse fashion, her life was dedicated to the service of others. From her job, to her family and friends, if there were ever a need, she could be counted on to be there.
Colleen had a great appreciation for arts and crafts, she enjoyed painting and making many crafts. She was never afraid to pick up any power tool and make whatever she thought was the missing element and she HAD to have a project to keep her occupied.
Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she enjoyed spending as much time with them as she could, from taking them creek hopping in Tahlequah to pushing them relentlessly in the swings at the park, she loved doting on them.
She passed peacefully from this life to her eternal home with the ultimate healing on Thursday, Sept 21, 2023 with her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin & Shirley Fuqua, her father & mother in law, Rev. Samuel & Martha Lowe. She is survived by her husband, Jim, daughter Jessie & husband Robert Plum of Prague, son Josh Lowe & wife Alisha of Tulsa, grandchildren- Maisyn, Cade, Maddox, Jason, & Jalen, her sister Cathy & husband Dana of Mounds, nephew Nick & wife Christy of Sand Springs, nephew Ben & wife Beth of Sand Springs, niece Rebecca & husband Derek of Sapulpa, and many other cousins and other family and friends.
A celebration of Colleen's life will be held at the VFW Post #1320, 1201 W Dewey Ave in Sapulpa, OK on Saturday October 14, 2023 from 2-4pm. All are welcome to come to celebrate a life of love and friendship.
