Jimmy Jones Obituary

Jimmy Jr. Jones age 66 years and 21 days, went to heaven on, April 17, 2024, he left this life peacefully surrounded by his family members.

Jimmy was the son of J. B. (Dick) and Nira Mitchell Jones, he is preceded in death by his Father, Mother, Two sisters, Mary Jo Jones, Rita Ann Jones Brantley, and one brother Alan Keith Jones. Grandparents, Jim and Bessie Cooper Jones, Elmer, and Allie Pirtle Mitchell.

He was a proud Native American Citizen, of the Chickasaw Nation, he is survived by his sons, Jared, and Adam Jones both of McCloud, Oklahoma, Brother, Jacky Jones and wife, Emily of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Sister, Shirley Jones Stone, of Decatur, TX.  Jimmy was blessed with four wonderful grandchildren, Kilee, Quinton, Payton, and Paige Jones and one great-grandchild, Kaius (Wabansii) Frisby and several nephews and nieces and abundance of friends.

Jimmy was born in Durant, Oklahoma, the 6th child, baby of the Jones family, he grew up on the Jones farm on Philadelphia Road, where he and his sisters and brothers had the life of good times growing up, he was a country boy,  a tuff kid, fishing in the ponds, playing baseball, picking blackberries and pecans, shooting his BB gun, a dead eye for killing birds, and playing pranks on the mailman, Jimmy loved swimming in the Blue River and water skiing at Lake Texoma.

Jimmy was baptized one summer while at Blue Baptist Vacation Bible School, and attended the Hillside Baptist Church, of Harrah. While raising his two sons, he enjoyed helping with the coaching baseball on their leagues, living the country life, with a hobby of mechanic for just about everyone who needed his help.  He adored his parents, siblings, kids, and Grandkids. Jimmy’s past time favorite was cooking out and a having a few cold beers after a long day of hard work.    One of his favorites pranks was to call his sisters or brothers around midnight or beyond for a laugh and tell them I love you; you can sleep tomorrow!

He attended Blue Grade School and Midwest City High school, a member of the Pipeliners Union 798, where he worked as a welder helper on several projects, later in life he changed professions and joined the concrete and brick layers union in Oklahoma City, where he was instrumental in the construction of many major developments.

People who knew Jimmy will remember him as a strong will, stand-up man, straight forward, lived life his way, who would help anyone or give you the shirt off his back, and did! He did not see color or status of people, ask nothing in return, a good kindhearted man.

His family would like to thank all his friends, and relatives, The OU Medical Center, Kickapoo Health Center, Peggy & Charles Cancer Center, Frontier Hospice, and The Chickasaw Hospital for the care and support of his health needs, happy thoughts, and prayers during this time.  He will surely be missed by us all.
