Johnny Leon Groat

Johnny Leon Groat, born on May 26, 1949, in Wagnor, Oklahoma, peacefully entered into eternal rest on January 6, 2024, in the comfort of his home. He was the beloved son of Kenneth and Betty Groat.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his previous wife of 40 years, Diane Groat, and their son, Matthew Groat.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Christa Groat, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He is also survived by his four loving sons: Michael Groat and his wife Sara, Gary Badgett, Burt Badgett, and Henry Benefiel. His daughter, Chelsey Pearson, brought joy and warmth to his life.

Johnny was one of five siblings, sharing his journey in life with his three brothers: Doyle Groat, David Groat, and Danny Groat, as well as his sister, Linda Payton.

His legacy extends beyond his immediate family, as he leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward his love and values. Johnny's wide circle of family and friends, who were deeply touched by his presence, will forever remember his warm smile and welcoming spirit.

Johnny had a zest for life and a passion for various activities. He enjoyed playing volleyball and was an avid fan of football. He was known for his generosity and unwavering commitment to his faith, driving the Sunday bus to bring people closer to the Lord. Johnny never met a stranger; his heart was open to everyone, and he cherished the art of conversation.

In the wake of his passing, we remember Johnny Leon Groat not only for the love he shared with his family and friends but also for the kindness and compassion he bestowed upon all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will forever live on in our hearts, as we continue to share his legacy of love, faith, and camaraderie.
