Mary Jo Lambert

 Mary Jo Lambert, 95, was born on December 6, 1927, in Lockney, Texas. She was the daughter of Charles “Chock” and Lura Stella “Bobbie” Wells. She entered into eternal sleep on September 25, 2023 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family.

On June 21, 1947 she married the love of her life, Willis Lambert, and after a short stay in California, they raised their family in Coalgate, OK. Mary Jo was a homemaker and proud mother of six children.  She was a member of the Chickasaw Indian Tribe of Oklahoma and a Chickasaw Elder. Mary Jo was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on May 15th of 1971. She devoted 52 years of her life to loyally sharing and learning about the good news of God’s Kingdom ruled by Jesus Christ. Mary Jo was loved by her family, friends and will be sorely missed by all. She was well known for her imagination, ornery nature, and mischievous smile. She loved birds, gardening, and her dogs and cats. She had an artistic side and loved all types of arts and crafts.

Mary Jo was preceeded in death by her parents “Chock” and “Bobbie” Wells, brother, Morgan Wells and Willard “WR” Wells, her husband Willis Lambert, her daughter Penny Boyd, and son Jeush Lambert. Surviving are her sons John Lambert and wife Debra of Oklahoma City, Joe Lambert and wife Lanette of Coalgate, Jim Lambert and wife Nancy of Ada, daughter Carol Talton and husband Justin of Shawnee, and son-in-law Ronnie Boyd of Ada. Grandchildren Marian Kretzschmar, Ada; Wade Boyd, Ada; Carey Terrell, Yukon; Nathan Boyd, Tishomingo; Logan Boyd, Stratford; Leila Osborn, Ada; Stephanie Straub, Ada; Lena Hedger, Oklahoma City; Michael Lambert, Coalgate; Rachael Davis, Coalgate;  Rebekah Justus, Ada; Robynne DeLozier, Coalgate; Lanie Lambert, Norman; Brent Straub, Shawnee; Megan Campbell, Alaska. Thirty eight great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

A family graveside service will be held at the Wells Valley Cemetery (Bromide) Wapanucka, OK on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the Chickasaw Nation Community Center, located 700 N.
