Melvin Cook Obituary

Born January 16, 1948, in Elk City to Melvin and Velma Cook. Soon after graduation from Meeker High School, in 1966, Mel enlisted in the US Army. On March 17, 1967, he married Karen Gatlin and together they had two daughters, Shelly and Cindy. Mel served in the US Army from 1966-1970. Following his discharge, he began working at Tinker Air Force Base. While working at Tinker, he attended Central State University earning his Bachelor of Science degree in May 1975. His entrepreneurship began from home building to horse training to cattle rancher, always making time for golf. Mel was preceded in death by his parents Melvin and Velma Cook, four sisters Gola Faye Langley, Dolores Jean Stinnett, Billie Deanna Davis and Linda Dell Gallaway. As well as two brothers Odell Cook and Bobby Cook. Surviving is his loving wife Karen Cook, daughter Shelly Davidson (Greg) and daughter Cindy Garrison (Darin), grandchildren Wyatt Davidson (Tera), Bradleigh Davidson, Trace Davidson and Haylin Garrison, brother Raymond Cook, brother Gene Cloud, along with numerous nephews and nieces. Services to be held at Choctaw Road Baptist Church, Friday January 8, 2021, at 10am. Because someone gave the gift of life through organ donation in January 2013, Mel was blessed an additional 8 years of life.
