Virginia Ann Godwin, 82, died peacefully at home on September 3, 2021 surrounded by her children.
She was born August 18, 1939 in Oklahoma City, OK, the daughter of Paul and Geraldine Bascus. She was lovingly adopted and raised by her grandparents, Joseph and VermellStroud. She loved to sing and dance as a child. She loved music and was talented on many instruments as well, teaching piano lessons for many years.
Virginia graduated from Anadarko High School, Class of 1957. She was always very social, so she loved school and her classmates.
In 1958 she married Donald Godwin and they had seven beautiful children together.
She settled in McLoud Ok where she lived for over 45 years. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1962. She loved her spiritual family and her ministry. She spent over 36years as a full-time minister, teaching people the Bible and helping them come to know God. Her vivacious personality and excellent sense of humor made her beloved to all who knew her.
In addition to her parents and grandparents, she was predeceased by her son, Donald Paul Godwin, her granddaughter, CheliseWoods, her brothers Paul Louis Bascus, David Bascus and Sydney Stroud, her sisters Josephine Trippe and Juanita Stroud.
She is survived by her sister Linda Ray and her brother Tommy Stroud; her children, Geraldine Koszara, Linda Buckley, Lea Ann Gomez, Jake Godwin, Jana Kennedy and Gwen Godwin; her grandchildren Cara Loyall , Korian Koszara, Cole Koszara, Zane Woods, Tyler Crafton, Tony Gomez, Matthew Gomez, Joseph Gomez, Christian Kennedy, Maddox Kennedy and Sawyer Kennedy. As well as many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends who were like family to her.
Her memorial service will be held September 11, 2021 at 4:00 pm via Zoom videoconferencing.
